Look from the ground first
You do not need a ladder to spot most warning signs. Walk around your home and look up. Stay safe and let us do the climbing.
1. Stains on a ceiling
A brown ring on a ceiling often means water is getting in. Find the source early. Small leaks can grow.
2. Missing or lifted shingles
Wind can lift or tear shingles. Gaps leave the layer below exposed to rain and sun.
3. Granules in the gutters
Shingles shed granules as they age. A lot of grit in the gutters can mean the shingles are wearing.
4. Stiff or cracked shingles
Sun and heat dry out asphalt shingles over time. Dry shingles can crack and curl.
5. Worn flashing
Flashing seals the joints around chimneys, vents and walls. When it lifts or rusts, water can find a way in.
